Here are some facts and figures

What we do?

TASK interacts with a minimum of 1,100 people every year and has been established in Knowsley since 2004.

TASK is the TrAder Scheme Knowsley and is a directory of traders who are vetted to ensure their safety and reliability for working with older and vulnerable members of the community. Each customer who is given details of TASK traders is then sent a feedback form and a stamped addressed envelope. Because of this, we have a good return on feedback forms and the traders are constantly monitored by people who use them.

Research

Through our extensive research with support from Knowsley Council and Trading Standards, we developed a thorough understanding of how rogue traders work and how the main targets for these types of rogues were older and vulnerable (often disabled) people. For this reason we focused the service on people who fell into those categories. Older and vulnerable people are potentially less able to research traders they wish to use so TASK does it for them.

TASK is a unique service in Knowsley and what TASK offers is not just trader numbers, it is a trained professional at the end of the phone, with an understanding of the principles of choice and control, a wealth of other local knowledge that may benefit the caller and a very friendly voice.

TASK – The Future

Our feedback forms tell us what our customers think of TASK. So many comments tell us what a brilliant scheme this is and that they never go anywhere else. So it is extremely important to our community that TASK is able to stay in place.

TASK advisory board (TAB) meets monthly to discuss any issues in addition to future plans.

Our 2022 Plan

In 2022, our plans for TASK include:

  • Growing potential opportunities to come together as traders – sharing information / building new working relationships
  • Potential Trader discount at suppliers – we hope to begin work with suppliers to engage and build a relationship to make this happen supporting their CSR
  • Promotion, marketing and communications – We will promote the service thus enhancing trader opportunities for work

Three milestones over 2022 are:

  1. Engaging with new traders in all trades
  2. Increase in customers through targeted publicity
  3. Increase in digital marketing and interaction with customers capturing new markets

Better Lives and all of its services (TASK, SHOP, CORE) are community born in response to need. We have a strong commitment to enhancing life in Knowsley for all people our services reach, which in turn enhances Knowsley The Place
